Where should you travel from Tashkent for New Year? With just over two months to go until the holiday, now is the perfect time to start planning. There are still plenty of flights and hotels available for the festive dates, and prices are lower than they will be in December. We’ve put together 10 destinations from Tashkent, ranging from the most affordable options to places worth saving up for.
For each destination, we’ve included an estimated price per person (flights, hotel and insurance for 5–7 nights), the weather in late December, and what makes the trip special.
1. Almaty, Kazakhstan — from 5,000,000 UZS
Almaty is the closest option: the flight takes around two hours, and no visa is required. In December, the city looks like a New Year postcard, with snow, decorated Christmas trees in the squares, festive markets and ice rinks. If you want to celebrate without spending too much time travelling, this is a great choice.

You can easily combine a city break with a skiing holiday. Shymbulak is just a day trip away, and ski passes are generally much cheaper than in Europe. In the evening, you can stroll along Arbat Street and stop by local cafés and restaurants.
Weather: Around 0 to −5°C, with possible snowfall. Bring warm clothes and shoes with non-slip soles.
2. Georgia: Tbilisi and Batumi — from 5,500,000 UZS
Georgia has long been one of the favourite winter destinations for travellers from Uzbekistan. No visa is required, the flight is short, and food and accommodation are reasonably priced.

Many people celebrate New Year's Eve outdoors in Tbilisi. The city is beautifully decorated, and restaurants host live music performances. After the celebrations, you can take a trip to Mtskheta or Kakheti. Batumi is quieter in winter, but seaside hotels are cheaper than in summer, while spas and indoor pools remain open all year round.
Weather: Around 0 to +7°C in Tbilisi and +8 to +12°C in Batumi, with frequent rain.
3. Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt — from 7,500,000 UZS
If you’re dreaming of warm weather in December and an all-inclusive holiday, Sharm El Sheikh remains one of the easiest options to consider. Direct flights are available from Tashkent, and there is a wide choice of hotels, from simple three-star properties to large resorts with water parks.
![[object Object]](/_next/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.ioka.uz%2Fblog%2F04-5-1600x693.png&w=3840&q=75)
The sea temperature is around +23°C in December, so many travellers choose hotels with heated swimming pools. It’s also a great season for diving and snorkelling, with coral reefs visible even close to the shore. In the evening, you can explore the city's restaurants and cafés or take an excursion into the Sinai Mountains.
4. Baku, Azerbaijan — from 8,000,000 UZS
Baku is compact, beautiful and relatively affordable. You can combine walks through the Old City (Icherisheher) and along the waterfront with visits to modern towers and traditional hammams. Most major attractions are close to each other, so you can explore the city at a relaxed pace in 4–5 days.
![[object Object]](/_next/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.ioka.uz%2Fblog%2F05-4-1600x693.png&w=3840&q=75)
New Year celebrations in Baku are lively, with concerts, fireworks along the waterfront and a festive atmosphere in the city squares. If you have extra time, take a trip to Gabala or Sheki to discover the mountains and historic palaces.
Weather: +5 to +10°C, often windy. It’s best to bring a windbreaker to wear over a warm jacket.
5. Vietnam: Phu Quoc, Nha Trang and Phan Thiet — from 8,500,000 UZS
December marks the dry season in Phu Quoc and much of Vietnam’s southern and central coastline. That means calmer seas, plenty of sunshine and weather similar to the beginning of summer back home.
![[object Object]](/_next/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.ioka.uz%2Fblog%2F06-3-1600x693.png&w=3840&q=75)
Phu Quoc is especially convenient for family holidays, with gently sloping beaches, theme parks and plenty of hotels offering breakfast. Nha Trang has more city life and sightseeing opportunities, while Phan Thiet is a great choice for kitesurfing enthusiasts. Popular hotels for the New Year period get booked early, so it’s best to plan ahead.
Weather: +27 to +31°C, with sea temperatures around +27°C.
6. UAE: Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah — from 9,000,000 UZS
December brings pleasant temperatures to the UAE, without the intense summer heat. It’s also when some of the region's most spectacular New Year celebrations take place. The fireworks near Burj Khalifa attract thousands of people, so hotels and restaurants often raise their prices for the evening.
![[object Object]](/_next/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.ioka.uz%2Fblog%2F07-3-1600x693.png&w=3840&q=75)
If you want to save money, consider Ras Al Khaimah or Sharjah. You can enjoy a beach holiday and the same flight route while paying less for accommodation than in central Dubai. The main attractions are still accessible within an hour to an hour and a half.
Weather: +22 to +27°C during the day, with sea temperatures around +23°C. Citizens of Uzbekistan do not need a visa.
7. Thailand: Phuket, Pattaya and Bangkok — from 9,500,000 UZS
December marks the beginning of the high season in Thailand. Rain is rare, the sea is warm, and the islands look like something straight off a postcard. New Year is celebrated on beaches and waterfront promenades with fireworks and parties.
![[object Object]](/_next/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.ioka.uz%2Fblog%2F08-3-1600x693.png&w=3840&q=75)
Pattaya is a good option if you're looking for better prices and easy access to Bangkok. Phuket is more expensive, but offers better beaches and enough excursions to the Phi Phi and Similan Islands to fill an entire week. The flight takes around 6.5 hours, so allow yourself a day to rest after arrival.
Weather: +28 to +32°C. Citizens of Uzbekistan do not need a visa.
8. Istanbul and Antalya, Türkiye — from 10,000,000 UZS
In winter, Turkey offers two very different holiday experiences. Istanbul is ideal for those who enjoy walking, museums, shopping and sunsets over the Bosphorus. New Year's Eve celebrations take place around Taksim Square and along the waterfront, so it's best to find a good spot for watching the fireworks early.
![[object Object]](/_next/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.ioka.uz%2Fblog%2F09-3-1600x693.png&w=3840&q=75)
Antalya is a more relaxed option, with hotels offering thermal pools and spa facilities, and fewer tourists than in summer. Many hotels organise gala dinners. In some cases, these are included in the room rate, while in others they cost extra. Make sure to check before booking.
Weather: +5 to +10°C in Istanbul and +12 to +16°C in Antalya.
9. Malaysia: Langkawi and Kuala Lumpur — from 12,000,000 UZS
Langkawi is a relatively new visa-free destination for citizens of Uzbekistan, giving many travellers a reason to discover Malaysia. You can spend a week relaxing on the beach, take a cable car ride, explore the mangrove forests by boat and shop for affordable perfumes and chocolate at duty-free stores.
![[object Object]](/_next/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.ioka.uz%2Fblog%2F10-3-1600x693.png&w=3840&q=75)
If you have enough time, add 2–3 days in Kuala Lumpur to your trip. Visit the Petronas Towers, try the local street food and enjoy the New Year fireworks. Flights usually involve a connection, so make sure to allow enough time for travelling.
Weather: +28 to +31°C, with occasional short showers. It's best to double-check the entry requirements before travelling.
10. Maldives — from 25,000,000 UZS
The Maldives is a destination worth planning for well in advance. December is the dry season and the peak travel period, which makes prices the highest of the year. In return, you get exactly what people come here for: turquoise waters, overwater bungalows and candlelit dinners on the beach.
![[object Object]](/_next/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.ioka.uz%2Fblog%2F11-3-1600x693.png&w=3840&q=75)
If you're travelling on a tighter budget, consider guesthouses on local islands such as Maafushi or Thoddoo. You won't find luxurious overwater villas there, but you'll still enjoy the same ocean, snorkelling with manta rays and considerably lower prices. Good options for New Year tend to sell out 2–3 months in advance.
Weather: +28 to +31°C, with very little rain. Flights usually involve a connection.
How to Save Money on a New Year Holiday
New Year is one of the most expensive travel periods of the year, but you can cut some costs by planning ahead and comparing your options:
- Try different travel dates. Departing on 27–28 December or returning after 4 January is often cheaper than the classic 30 December – 5 January itinerary.
- Book in advance. Popular hotels and flights for the holiday period sell out first. The closer it gets to New Year, the fewer options remain.
- Check what's included in the New Year's Eve dinner. Some hotels make it compulsory and charge an additional fee. Find out the cost before paying for your tour.
- Look beyond beachfront hotels. Accommodation just a few minutes' walk from the beach is often considerably cheaper, and you can still reach the sea on foot.
- Calculate the total cost of your trip. Flights, hotel, insurance, visa or arrival fee, and transfers: comparing the full cost makes it easier to choose the best option.
- Get an eSIM in advance. This way, you'll have internet access as soon as you land and won't need to pay for roaming.
